SKL Associates, Inc., was founded in 1988 in the San Francisco Bay area city of Concord. In the ensuing years we have successfully completed numerous hospitality, restaurant, senior living and mixed-use projects, for a variety of clients throughout California. In our over twenty year history, we have established ourselves as a leading design firm in the area of hospitality, commercial, residential and light-industrial architecture. Our commitment and focus on meeting the goals of our clients, helps each project move smoothly through the labyrinthine process of designing, agency approvals and finally into construction.

Our design practice is based on the premise that buildings need to respond to the historical, cultural and aesthetic traditions of their setting. In that regard we do not approach a project's design with a particular style, rather the design is a result of engaging in a dialogue and understanding the essence of the place. Each project is considered with regard to its program and surroundings, resulting in a unique and refreshing design rooted in the communities values.

We are constantly exploring better ways to do our work and have implemented automated, state-of-the-art methods for design and production. Currently, all projects are designed using Building Information Modeling (BIM). This gives us the capability to design and see the results in real time, as well as share photo-realistic images and digital models with our clients. Producing construction drawings from the BIM database is not only fast but also accurate, thereby reducing the potential for conflicts in construction documents.

Although we are a small firm, we are able to handle fairly large and complex projects. The added benefit to our clients is, we are able to give principal level attention to all our projects. The range of projects we have handled varies from single-family homes and subdivisions to complex commercial projects. We are team players, realizing that a project can only be successfully completed when all members of the team perform in unison. We listen to our client’s and other team players, such that the end result is truly a cooperative effort where all parties are satisfied with the outcome.
